Zettex EPDM Primer P40 – The indispensable preparation for tight membrane seams

If you want to permanently and securely connect EPDM roofing membranes, you cannot do without professional seam tape. But the tape alone is not enough: for the connection to be absolutely wind and weather-resistant, the membrane must first be treated with a primer in combination with a seam tape.

EPDM membranes naturally repel many materials. The P40 Primer breaks down this surface tension, deeply cleans the surface, and creates the chemical basis for the seam tape to form an insoluble, molecular bond with the roof membrane. Without this primer, the seam tape will not hold permanently on the EPDM membrane and will come loose under the influence of weather.

Fast processing, maximum safety
Application is straightforward: Shake the can vigorously and work the primer into the clean, dry membrane in the seam area. After a short flash-off time of just 10 to 15 minutes, the surface is ready – now the seam tape must be applied and rolled firmly. For the seams of your roof, rely on the right system combination to ensure everything stays dry for decades.

How to apply the primer correctly:

  1. Preparation:Shake the can thoroughly before use and stir briefly every 15 to 20 minutes during application. Never dilute!
  2. Application:The surface must be dry, clean and grease-free. Apply the primer with a scouring pad or sandpaper.
  3. Flash-off time:Allow the primer 10 to 15 minutes to dry. Only apply the joint tape when it has completely flashed off.
  4. Important notes:Do not smoke during work. Do not use on PVC foils, EPS or XPS insulation. Do not use as a cleaner.
